Constana

Constana is a coastal city and the administrative capital of Constana Province in the fictional country of Valoria. It lies on the northern shore of the Asteria Sea and covers about 110 square kilometers at the mouth of the Argis River.

The city has a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters and cool summers, and receives roughly 700 millimeters of precipitation annually.

Early medieval settlements grew into a regional trade center. City rights were granted in the 14th century, and Constana developed as a port town under various rulers. Modern municipal governance began after reforms in the late 20th century.

As of 2023, the population was about 118,000. The residents are predominantly Valorian, with minority communities. The official languages are Valorian and English, and the city is largely secular.

The port remains the economic backbone, supporting container traffic, fishing, and ship repair. Logistics, light manufacturing, and tourism also contribute to employment.

Landmarks include the Old Fortress and the Maritime Museum; the city hosts an annual Sea Festival celebrating maritime heritage.

Transportation includes port facilities, a regional rail link via the Valoria Central Railway, and an urban tram and bus network. The nearest international airport is 25 to 30 kilometers away.

Constana hosts the University of Constana, with faculties of engineering, economics, and humanities, along with several research institutes.
