Conditionsterrain is a conceptual framework used in planning, simulation, and analysis to describe how the combination of environmental conditions and terrain features influences mobility, safety, and operational effectiveness. It treats terrain not as a static map but as a dynamic system in which weather, season, moisture, temperature, wind, and visibility interact with surface properties such as slope, roughness, permeability, and obstruction.

The framework typically breaks the domain into terrain types (open, rough, urban, water, mountainous, woodland) and combines them with condition factors such as precipitation, snow and ice, humidity, temperature extremes, wind, and light levels to produce passability scores or risk ratings for specific locations and times.

Applications include military and defense planning, disaster response, search and rescue, autonomous navigation, agriculture and forestry, and civil infrastructure planning. Data inputs come from field observations, satellite or aerial imagery, weather and soil datasets, and sensor networks, feeding mobility models and hazard assessments. Outputs commonly include recommended routes, contingency plans, and resource allocation guidance.
