Coldwet is a colloquial term used to describe the perceptual state of being cold and wet simultaneously. It is not a medical diagnosis but a descriptive phrase common in weather reporting, sports commentary, and online discourse to convey discomfort caused by rain, damp clothing, or immersion in water.

Etymology: The term combines the words cold and wet and appears in informal English usage. It has no formal, standardized definition in major dictionaries, but is widely understood in everyday speech.

Definition and scope: Coldwet can refer to an immediate sensory experience—such as the sensation of rain hitting exposed skin—or to a condition in which damp clothing or residual moisture prolongs discomfort after exposure. It often implies that moisture increases heat loss and maintains a chill.

Causes and contexts: Typical contexts include outdoor activities in rain or mist, swimming or wading in cold water, damp work environments, or sweating in cool, windy conditions where moisture remains on the skin or clothing.
