Clix

Clix is a line of collectible miniature figures produced by WizKids that uses a click mechanism to display a figure’s current statistics. The name Clix derives from the audible clicks produced when a player rotates a dial built into each figure’s base, which advances through preset statistic values as the figure takes damage or uses powers. This design allows players to track a figure’s state without separate cards or trackers.

First released in 2002 under the HeroClix brand, the line features licensed characters from comic books, movies, and later other media. Marvel and DC heroes and villains were among the early offerings, followed by crossovers and thematic sets. Figures are sold in booster packs and starter sets; popular figures are often sought by collectors, sometimes with rare or chase variants.

Gameplay centers on squads of miniatures placed on modular map tiles or grids. Players move figures, measure range, and perform attacks or powers. Each figure’s dial contains multiple "clicks" that change its attack, defense, and damage values or special abilities as the dial is rotated. Players resolve actions with standard tabletop mechanics, sometimes using dice for certain modifiers, depending on edition. The system emphasizes quick resolution and collectible diversity, contributing to organized play and hobby communities.

Today, HeroClix remains the most prominent line within the Clix family, with ongoing releases and official tournaments. WizKids continues to produce new sets, preserving the core click-based gameplay while expanding licenses and themes. The term Clix is often used informally to refer to the entire family of click-based WizKids miniatures.
