Chlorine is a vital component in the production of plastics like PVC, solvents, disinfectants, and pharmaceuticals. Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) is essential for manufacturing paper and pulp, textiles, soaps and detergents, and is used in aluminum processing and water treatment. Potassium hydroxide is similarly used in applications requiring a potassium-based alkali.
