Chalicotheriidae
Chalicotheriidae is an extinct family of perissodactyl mammals that were characterized by their unusual morphology. Unlike other perissodactyls, which typically have hooves on their feet, chalicotheres possessed large, claw-like nails on their forelimbs. Their hindlimbs retained hooves, and their overall body plan was rather stocky, with a relatively long neck and a short tail.
These fascinating creatures roamed across North America, Eurasia, and Africa during the Eocene to the Pleistocene
Chalicotheriidae is divided into several subfamilies, including the Chalicotheriinae and Schizotheriinae. Notable genera include *Chalicotherium*, *Moropus*,
