Chaleos
Chaleos is a term that appears in the historical records of the early medieval kingdom of Valoria, referring to a semi-autonomous district located between the northern siberian tundra and the southern temperate forests. Its name is derived from the Proto-Valorian root khal-, meaning “border”, combined with the suffix -es, used for territorial units. The first written mention of Chaleos is found in the 8th‑century charter known as the Codex Valorix, which records a land grant to a local nobleman named Alvis of Chaleos. In the charter, Chaleos is described as a frontier zone that had been settled by the chieftains of the western tribes who moved southward after the collapse of the Great Northern Union.
