Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are an American electronic music duo formed in 2012 in New York City, consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. They gained early attention with the independent single Selfie (2014), which went viral and helped secure a major-label deal. Their breakthrough came with a string of successful singles, including Roses (2015), Don’t Let Me Down (featuring Daya, 2016), and Closer (featuring Halsey, 2016), the latter spending multiple weeks atop charts worldwide.

Their debut studio album, Memories...Do Not Open, was released in 2017 and peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. It featured hits such as Paris and Something Just Like This (a collaboration with Coldplay). They won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for Don’t Let Me Down at the 2017 ceremony.

In subsequent years, The Chainsmokers expanded their output with additional singles, collaborations, and the World War Joy project (2019), as well as the Sick Boy EP (2018). They founded Disruptor Records, their own label, as a joint venture with Columbia Records, to release music for themselves and other artists.

Musical style: The duo is known for blending electronic dance music with pop-oriented songwriting and prominent vocal features, producing widely popular crossover tracks. They are among the best-selling and most-streamed EDM acts of the 2010s and 2020s.
