Caterpoons

Caterpoons are a fictional species introduced in the animated television series Phineas and Ferb. They are small, furry, caterpillar-like creatures with a unique method of locomotion. Instead of crawling, caterpoons propel themselves by forming a temporary, spring-like structure with their bodies. This action, described as "caterpooning," allows them to launch themselves short distances.

Caterpoons are often depicted as pests or nuisances, particularly to the character Carl, a security guard at the boys' house. They tend to appear unexpectedly and cause minor disruptions, such as getting into food or interrupting activities. Despite their sometimes troublesome nature, caterpoons are not inherently malicious. They are simply creatures acting on their instincts.

Their appearance is generally round and plump, with multiple segments and small, often black, eyes. They possess a distinct, almost bouncy gait when not caterpooning. The sound they make is typically a high-pitched chirp or squeak. While they haven't been explored in great detail, their role in the series is primarily comedic, serving as a recurring gag and a source of frustration for Carl. They are a whimsical creation that fits the generally lighthearted and imaginative tone of Phineas and Ferb.
