CTmenetelmää is a Finnish term that translates to "CT method" or "CT technique." It most commonly refers to Computed Tomography (CT) imaging, a widely used medical diagnostic tool. CT scans utilize X-rays taken from multiple angles to create cross-sectional images of the body. These images provide detailed anatomical information that can help physicians diagnose a wide range of conditions, including fractures, tumors, internal bleeding, and organ abnormalities.

The CT method involves a patient lying on a table that moves through a circular X-ray machine. As the X-ray tube rotates around the patient, it emits beams that pass through the body. Detectors on the opposite side measure the intensity of the X-rays after they have been attenuated by different tissues. A computer then processes this data to reconstruct detailed cross-sectional images, often referred to as slices. These slices can be viewed individually or combined to create three-dimensional representations of the body.

CT scans are performed for various parts of the body, such as the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. They are invaluable for emergency situations due to their speed and ability to detect acute conditions. Contrast agents, either injected or swallowed, are sometimes used to enhance the visibility of specific tissues or blood vessels, improving diagnostic accuracy. The CT method has revolutionized medical imaging, offering a non-invasive way to visualize internal structures with remarkable clarity.
