Bågurladdningar

Bågurladdningar, often referred to as arc discharges, are a type of electrical discharge that occurs through a medium, typically air, that is normally an electrical insulator. This phenomenon involves the passage of an electric current between two electrodes, creating a plasma channel. The high voltage applied across the electrodes can ionize the surrounding gas, allowing it to conduct electricity. This ionization process generates a visible arc of light and intense heat.

The formation of a bågurladdning is characterized by a rapid increase in the conductivity of the gas. This can be initiated by a sufficient voltage gradient, often referred to as dielectric breakdown. Once initiated, the plasma channel becomes a low-resistance path for the current.
