ByzantineRashidun refers to the historical period of interaction and conflict between the Byzantine Empire and the Rashidun Caliphate, the first Islamic caliphate. This era, spanning roughly from the mid-7th century CE onwards, marked a significant shift in the geopolitical landscape of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East. The Rashidun Caliphate emerged in the Arabian Peninsula following the death of the Prophet Muhammad and rapidly expanded its territories, directly challenging the long-established Byzantine presence in Syria, Palestine, and Egypt.
