Byggnadsväv

Byggnadsväv is a term used in Swedish building and cultural heritage contexts to describe textiles that were historically used inside and around buildings as finishing fabrics, wall coverings, floor coverings, or other architectural textiles. The concept encompasses fabrics woven or prepared for use in the built environment, rather than for clothing or generic textiles. It is closely associated with the traditions of byggnadsvård (building preservation) in Sweden and the Nordic countries.

Typically, byggnadsväv refers to durable, often plain- or simple twill-weave fabrics made from natural fibers such as linen, wool, or cotton.
