Bulionia

Bulionia is a fictional island nation described in worldbuilding and storytelling as located in the northern Aurelian Ocean. The state comprises a main island and several smaller islets linked by ferries and causeways. The climate ranges from temperate coastal to cool highland, with a wet season in winter.

Geography and administration: It covers about 12,000 square kilometers, with rugged highlands in the interior and low coastal plains. The capital is Port Valen, located on the north coast. Administrative divisions include five provinces.

History: The unification of rival coastal polities in the late 18th century formed Bulionia; it gained limited autonomy under a colonial framework in the 19th century and achieved full sovereignty after a peaceful transition in 1910. In the late 20th century, Bulionia joined a regional economic bloc.

Government: Bulionia is a constitutional republic. The President is the head of state; the Prime Minister chairs the government, and the parliament, called the Assembly, consists of 60 members elected every four years. The judiciary is independent, with a supreme court.

Economy and society: The economy centers on fisheries, agribusiness (citrus, coffee), timber, and tourism focused on nature reserves and volcanic landscapes. The currency is the bulion (BUL). The population is around 1.1 million, predominantly Bulionian-speaking; minority communities include coastal languages.

Culture: Traditional music, pottery, and festival foods mark national identity; notable holidays include Founders Day and the Harvest Festival. Education is compulsory through age 16; literacy is high.
