Bröstvävnadernas refers to the tissues of the breast. In humans, these tissues are primarily composed of glandular tissue, fatty tissue, and connective tissue. The glandular tissue contains lobules and ducts, responsible for milk production and transport during lactation. Fatty tissue, or adipose tissue, fills the spaces between the lobules and ducts, contributing to the overall size and shape of the breast. Connective tissue provides structural support, holding the breast tissue in place.

The composition of breast tissue varies significantly among individuals and also changes throughout a woman's life. Hormonal fluctuations, particularly those related to the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause, can influence the density and structure of breast tissue. For example, during pregnancy and lactation, the glandular tissue proliferates to prepare for milk production. After menopause, the glandular tissue tends to regress, and is often replaced by fatty tissue, leading to a decrease in breast density.

Understanding the normal composition and variations of breast tissue is important in medical contexts, particularly in mammography and breast cancer screening. Denser breast tissue, characterized by a higher proportion of glandular and connective tissue, can sometimes make it more challenging to detect abnormalities on mammograms. This is why factors like age, hormonal status, and breast density are considered when interpreting imaging results and determining appropriate screening strategies.
