Brennerbereich, also referred to as the Brenner area, denotes the alpine zone surrounding the Brenner Pass, the main north–south transit route between Austria and Italy. The region spans parts of the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol, within the Central Eastern Alps. The Brenner Pass itself lies at roughly 1,370–1,380 meters above sea level and has long served as a major corridor between Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
