Bootolás

Bootolás is a Hungarian term referring to the process of starting up a computer or electronic device. It describes the sequence of events that occur when a device is powered on, leading to the operating system becoming functional and ready for user interaction. This process typically involves several stages, beginning with the Power-On Self-Test (POST), which checks essential hardware components. Following POST, the system locates and loads the boot loader, a small program responsible for initiating the operating system. The boot loader then transfers control to the operating system kernel, which continues the loading process by initializing drivers, system services, and finally presenting the user interface. The duration and complexity of bootolás can vary significantly depending on the device's hardware, the operating system, and any configured startup programs. In some contexts, particularly in older computing environments, bootolás might also refer to the manual loading of programs or operating systems from external media like floppy disks or punch cards.
