"Bolshinstvo" is a Russian term that translates directly to "majority" or "plurality" in English. It is commonly used in both spoken and written Russian to refer to the larger portion of a group, often in the context of voting, opinions, or general preferences. The word derives from the adjective "bolshoy," meaning "big" or "large," combined with the suffix "-instvo," which typically denotes a state or condition.

In Russian political and social discourse, "bolshinstvo" frequently appears in discussions about elections, referendums, or public opinion polls. For example, a politician might claim to represent the "bolshinstvo naroda," meaning "the majority of the people," to emphasize broad support for their policies.
