Blomsterfattige

Blomsterfattige is a Swedish term used to describe a type of grassland or meadow that is characterized by a low diversity of flowering plants. These areas are often found in environments where conditions are harsh, such as in nutrient-poor soils, areas with high grazing pressure, or in frequently mown locations.

The term literally translates to "flower-poor." This does not necessarily mean there are no flowers present, but rather that the number of different flowering species is significantly reduced compared to a more species-rich meadow. Instead of a wide variety of colorful blooms, blomsterfattige areas might be dominated by a few hardy grasses or sedges.

These environments can arise naturally due to ecological factors or can be influenced by human activities.
