Bladslijtage

Bladslijtage, commonly referred to as leaf wear or leaf degradation, is a process that affects plant leaves over time. It encompasses the gradual breakdown and deterioration of leaf tissue due to various factors. This can include physical abrasion from wind, rain, or other environmental elements, as well as physiological processes related to aging.

The visible signs of bladslijtage can vary depending on the cause and the plant species. It might manifest as a roughening of the leaf surface, thinning of the leaf blade, or even small perforations. In some cases, the edges of the leaves may appear worn or frayed. This process is a natural part of a plant's life cycle, particularly in older leaves that are no longer actively photosynthesizing.

While some degree of bladslijtage is normal, accelerated wear can sometimes indicate underlying issues. Environmental stressors such as prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions or soil deficiencies can contribute to premature degradation. Pests or diseases that damage leaf cells can also exacerbate the effects of bladslijtage.
