Sustainability and challenges: Evaluating environmental and social impacts through life-cycle assessment is central to the biorefinery concept. Key challenges include securing reliable feedstock supply, achieving favorable economics, scaling technologies, and competing with petrochemical products. Policy support, market development, and investment in logistics and infrastructure are often required to enable large-scale deployment.
