Endoscopic biopsies are performed during an endoscopy, where a flexible tube with a camera and instruments is inserted into the body. Skin biopsies are common for examining moles or other skin lesions.

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort, although general anesthesia may be used for more extensive biopsies. After the sample is taken, it is sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results of a biopsy can guide treatment decisions and provide essential information for patient care.
