Bianchetta

Bianchetta is a white grape variety primarily grown in the Liguria region of Italy. It is a minor but historically significant grape, often found in local white wine blends. The name "Bianchetta" itself translates to "little white one," referring to its appearance. While not widely recognized as a single varietal wine, it contributes to the complexity and aromatic profile of wines from the Cinque Terre and other Ligurian appellations.

The grape is known for producing wines with a delicate character. Typically, Bianchetta yields wines with bright acidity, a light to medium body, and subtle floral and citrus notes. It can also impart a slight almond or herbaceous undertone. Its thin skin makes it susceptible to rot, requiring careful vineyard management. Due to its low yields and limited distribution, Bianchetta is rarely bottled as a monovarietal wine. Instead, it is most commonly blended with other indigenous Ligurian grapes such as Bosco and Vermentino, where it adds freshness and a distinctive aromatic nuance to the final wine.
