Betongelement

Betongelement is a prefabricated concrete component used in building construction. Produced in a controlled factory, betongelement is transported to the site and installed, enabling fast, predictable construction and high quality control.

Common types include wall panels, hollow-core or solid floor slabs, beams and columns, stairs, and façade or sandwich panels that incorporate insulation. Elements may be designed for immediate structural duty or for use as architectural or utility panels with integrated openings, ducts, or fittings.

Production involves placing reinforcement, pouring concrete of the specified strength, and curing under controlled conditions. Concrete strength classes, surface finishes, and tolerances are defined by national and international standards. Connections between elements are achieved with joints, anchors, grout, or cast-in-place concrete.

Advantages of precast concrete elements include fast on-site assembly, high dimensional accuracy, reduced formwork needs, good fire resistance, and reliable quality control. When used as sandwich panels, they also provide thermal insulation and sound performance. Durable and fire-rated, betongelement are common in modern construction.

Limitations include heavy weight and transportation constraints, requiring cranes and logistics planning. Custom shapes or very large elements can increase cost and lead time. Proper joint detailing, sealing, and protection during installation are essential to prevent moisture intrusion and thermal bridging. End-of-life options include demolition and recycling of concrete and embedded steel.
