Betareading
Betareading is a process where an author shares a draft of their work, typically a novel, with a group of trusted readers known as betareaders. These readers provide feedback from the perspective of an average reader, rather than an editor or critique partner. The goal of betareading is to identify issues that might not be apparent to the author who is intimately familiar with the story.
