Benzodiatsepiinejä
Benzodiatsepiinejä is the Finnish term for benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are a class of psychoactive drugs widely prescribed for their sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant properties. They work by enhancing the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at the GABAa receptor, resulting in a reduction of neuronal excitability throughout the nervous system.
Commonly prescribed for conditions such as anxiety disorders, insomnia, seizures, and muscle spasms, benzodiazepines are available
While effective for short-term treatment, benzodiazepines carry a risk of dependence and withdrawal symptoms upon cessation.
