Benoita

Benoita is a fictional town in the central highlands of Veridia, created for illustrative purposes in an encyclopedic style. It serves as the administrative center of Benoita District and a local hub for agriculture and light industry.

Benoita lies along the Beno River at about 1,100 meters above sea level. The surrounding landscape includes terraced valleys, pine forests, and mosaic farmland. The climate is temperate with a wet season from May to October; average annual precipitation is around 900 millimeters.

The town was founded in the 17th century by agrarian settlers and grew as a market town in the 18th century. The arrival of a regional railway in 1892 spurred further development.

As of 2020, Benoita had an estimated population of 7,400. The community is primarily Veridian-speaking with a minority of English speakers. The economy relies on fruit and dairy farming, small manufacturing, and rural tourism.

Benoita is governed by a municipal council led by a mayor. The town hosts an annual Harvest Festival and supports traditional crafts such as weaving and woodwork. Transportation infrastructure includes regional roads, a railway line, and a small airstrip.
