Belltal

Belltal is a valley in the central highlands of Eldoria, bounded by the North Ridge and the South Spur mountains. The Bell River runs through the valley floor, draining north to the Verdan Sea. The area covers about 120 square kilometers and includes conifer forests, alpine pastures, and small settlements.

The valley has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, with later growth around mining and forestry. In the 17th century, bell-making industries emerged, centered on Bellheim and Fontayne, shaping the local economy and identity. The Festival of Bells, a traditional event, dates to the early modern period.

The main communities are Bellheim, a river-side market town, and Tonebridge, a smaller craft village. The population is about 3,000, with residents living in farms, workshops, and service roles. The official language is Eldoran, with a minority speaking neighboring dialects.

The economy combines small foundries, dairy farming, timber, and growing tourism. Visitors come for hiking in mixed forests, the river valley, and the bells festival. Local authorities promote conservation and sustainable forestry.

Climate is humid continental, with cold winters and mild summers. The valley supports diverse flora and fauna, and parts are protected as the Belltal Nature Reserve to safeguard old-growth stands and wetland areas near the river.

Governance falls within Nord County. A valley council handles local services. Access is via provincial roads and the Nordlinie railway, linking Bellheim to larger urban centers. A small tourism office promotes local crafts and bell-making heritage.
