Bellano

Bellano is a comune (municipality) in Lombardy, northern Italy, in the province of Lecco. It lies on the eastern shore of Lake Como, between the towns of Dervio to the west and Varenna to the south, with the Pioverna river creating the Orrido di Bellano, a deep ravine that cuts into the landscape. The ravine hosts a protected scenic walk with wooden bridges and grotto-like formations and is a principal local attraction.

History has shaped Bellano from medieval times, when the area developed as part of the Duchy of Milan.
