Begleitstörungen, often translated as accompanying disorders or comorbidity, refers to the occurrence of two or more distinct medical conditions or psychiatric disorders in the same individual. These conditions may or may not be related in their etiology, but their co-existence can significantly impact diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

In a medical context, begleitstörungen can involve the presence of multiple physical ailments. For instance, a patient with diabetes might also have hypertension or cardiovascular disease.
