Bedugul

Bedugul is a mountain resort area and village in central Bali, Indonesia. It is located in Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, on the western shore of Lake Beratan, at an elevation of roughly 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level. The highland setting gives the area a cooler, misty climate with a distinct wet season and a relatively dry season.

The region is best known for its major attractions. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, a water temple that sits on the lake, is a prominent symbol of Balinese Hinduism and a popular photography subject. Kebun Raya Eka Karya Bedugul, one of Bali’s leading botanical gardens, hosts a wide range of plant collections, including orchids, cacti, and ferns, set against a backdrop of mountains and cloud forests. The nearby Candi Kuning Market offers fruit, flowers, and other local goods and serves as a popular stop for visitors.

Bedugul also serves as a gateway for day trips to surrounding natural and cultural sites. The area is connected by a main road that links Denpasar to Gilimanuk, with travel times varying by traffic and weather; the cooler climate and scenic views attract visitors year-round.

In addition to tourism, Bedugul supports horticulture and agricultural activities that benefit from its altitude and misty conditions. The site remains a focal point for preservation efforts within Bali’s network of botanical and cultural attractions.
