Baunik is a fictional village and municipality located in the Veridian Highlands, a mountainous region in the imagined country of Eldoria. The name is said to derive from the Baun River that flows north of the village. Baunik consists of a compact village center surrounded by mixed forests and small farms, and sits at about 480 meters above sea level. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and warm summers, contributing to the area’s agricultural profile.

History: Baunik is first mentioned in written records dating to 1287 under the name Bounik. The modern name Baunik appears in the 15th century. A local hydroelectric plant was installed in 1982 to supply electricity to the municipality and surrounding areas.

Economy and infrastructure: Today Baunik’s economy relies on agriculture, forestry, and artisanal crafts. A weekly market and several family-run farms produce dairy, grains, honey, and woodwork.
