The production of Battericeller involves the use of a combination of red grapes, primarily Aglianico and Piedirosso, which are harvested from high-altitude vineyards in the province of Avellino. The grapes are then fermented using a traditional batière, a type of battery being or suspended container that allows for both aerobic and anaerobic fermentation simultaneously.

During the fermentation process, native yeast populations found on the grape skins play a vital role in the production of Battericeller. This results in a wine characterized by distinctive earthy and mineral flavors, complemented by subtle hints of dark fruit and chocolate.
