Batroc

Batroc, also known as Batroc the Leaper, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a mercenary and a skilled hand-to-hand combatant with exceptional acrobatic abilities. Batroc was created by writer-artist Larry Hama and artist Frank Miller and first appeared in Captain America #307 in 1985.

Georges Batroc was born in Marseille, France. He is a master of Savate, a French kickboxing style, and utilizes his agility and leaping prowess in combat. Batroc is known for his distinctive costume and his often theatrical approach to fighting. While he has been an antagonist to Captain America on multiple occasions, he is not inherently evil and often operates as a mercenary for hire, taking on contracts that align with his sense of honor or financial gain.

Over the years, Batroc has been a member of various mercenary teams and has faced off against other Marvel heroes besides Captain America. His fighting style, characterized by his powerful kicks and incredible agility, makes him a formidable opponent. He has also appeared in animated series and live-action adaptations of Marvel characters, most notably in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where he was portrayed by actor Georges St-Pierre. In these adaptations, his role and backstory are often adapted to fit the narrative.
