BIMx

BIMx is a building information modeling (BIM) viewer and presentation tool developed by Graphisoft. It enables users to view Archicad projects on desktop and mobile devices, combining 3D models and 2D drawings in a single navigable environment.

Central to BIMx is the Hyper-model concept. A BIMx Hyper-model exports an Archicad project as a self-contained file that links the 3D model with 2D drawings, sections, elevations, and details. Users can navigate in real time in 3D, switch to 2D drawings, and use hyperlinks or hotspots to move between views. This provides a seamless way to demonstrate how a design resolves across different representations.

Workflow and platforms: BIMx files are generated from Archicad and distributed as .bimx packages. The BIMx app is available for iOS and Android, with a desktop viewer for Windows and macOS, and supports offline access to the exported hyper-models. Sharing can be done via BIMx Cloud or by sending the file directly.

Key features include intuitive 3D navigation, cutaway and section tools, layer visibility control, measurement and annotation capabilities, and the ability to bookmark or favorite views. The tool is widely used for client presentations, design reviews, and field reference, providing a portable, interactive way to explore building models on-site.
