Axelabduction

Axelabduction is a term used in anatomy and biomechanics to describe the movement of a limb or body part away from the midline of the body along the axis of the limb itself. This movement is often contrasted with abduction, which is the movement away from the midline of the body in a general sense. For example, in the shoulder, raising the arm laterally is abduction. However, if one were to consider the long axis of the arm, moving the arm further away from the body's central axis in that specific plane could be described as axelabduction.
