Avkylda is a fictional coastal city-state in the northern archipelago of Eldoria. It lies at the mouth of the Shallows Strait and serves as a significant trading hub between inland realms and sea routes. The city is known for glassmaking, shipyards, and a tradition of maritime guilds.

Etymology: The name Avkylda has an uncertain origin; scholars propose Old Avalic roots meaning "shore of mists," but no consensus exists.

History: Avkylda was founded in the 11th century by mariners settling along sheltered coves. It grew as a trading post under a guild confederation and an elected magistrate. The city endured wars and a major fire in 1423, after which stone districts and a fortified harbor were constructed.

Governance and society: The city-state is governed by a council of guild representatives and an appointed magistrate.
