Avjämningsmedlet

Avjämningsmedlet, often translated as leveling compound or floor screed, is a material used in construction and renovation to create a smooth, level surface on floors before the final flooring is installed. It is typically a cementitious or gypsum-based mixture that is applied over a subfloor. The primary purpose of avjämningsmedlet is to correct imperfections in the subfloor, such as dips, unevenness, or cracks, ensuring a uniform plane for subsequent floor coverings like tiles, laminate, vinyl, or carpet.

The application process usually involves mixing the avjämningsmedlet powder with water to achieve a workable consistency. This mixture is then poured or troweled onto the prepared subfloor. Special tools, such as spiked rollers or smoothing trowels, are used to spread the material evenly and remove air bubbles. The thickness of the application can vary depending on the degree of unevenness to be corrected and the specific product used.

Avjämningsmedlet hardens relatively quickly, allowing for the installation of the final floor covering within a specified timeframe, which is often detailed on the product's packaging. Modern avjämningsmedel formulations can offer additional benefits such as improved adhesion, reduced shrinkage, and enhanced durability.
