Avicii

Avicii, born Tim Bergling on 8 September 1989 in Stockholm, Sweden, was a prominent electronic dance music producer and DJ. Under the stage name Avicii, he became one of the leading figures of the EDM scene in the early 2010s, known for melodic, accessible tracks that crossed over into mainstream pop.

Early in his career, he released music as Tim Berg and Tim Bergling on various labels, gaining international attention with the 2011 single Levels, which showcased his signature blend of uplifting hooks and danceable rhythms. His 2013 album True fused EDM with folk, soul, and country influences, producing hit singles such as Wake Me Up and Hey Brother. The 2015 album Stories continued his experimentation with genre and collaboration.

In 2016 he announced retirement from touring due to health issues, including stress and acute pancreatitis; he continued to work in the studio on new material.

Avicii died on 20 April 2018 in Muscat, Oman; the circumstances were not publicly disclosed. In the wake of his death, his family spoke about his struggles with mental health and the pressures of fame, contributing to discussions about mental health in the music industry.

Posthumous releases included a 2019 album TIM and the 2019 single SOS, compiled from unfinished material. The Tim Bergling Foundation was established to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention and to fund relief for those affected by mental health issues.
