Autofarming

Autofarming is the use of automated systems to perform farming tasks with minimal human intervention. In agriculture, autofarming covers autonomous machinery, robotic harvesters, automated irrigation and fertigation, and climate-controlled environments in greenhouses and vertical farms. Sensors, cameras, drones, and soil and environmental data feed AI or rule-based systems that optimize planting, irrigation, nutrient delivery, pruning, pest control, and harvest timing. Common technologies include autonomous tractors, robotic weeders, precision irrigation, nutrient dosing systems, and controlled-environment agriculture. Benefits include increased efficiency, reduced water and chemical use, improved crop uniformity, and the ability to operate continuously. Challenges include high upfront costs, maintenance needs, system integration, data management, and exposure to cyber threats. Adoption requires skilled staff and alignment with farm-scale operations and local regulations.

In gaming and digital ecosystems, autofarming refers to automation that repeatedly performs in-game actions to gather resources, experience, or currency. While it can raise productivity, it is often prohibited by game terms of service and can destabilize in-game economies or degrade user experience.
