Atelamia

Atelamia is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae. The genus was first described by Francis Walker in 1861. Atelamia species are found in the Neotropical realm, with most records from South America.

The adult moths of Atelamia typically have a wingspan of around 20-30 millimeters. Their coloration varies but often includes patterns of brown, gray, or ochre, providing camouflage against tree bark or foliage. The wing shape is generally triangular, characteristic of many geometrid moths. The antennae are filiform in females and often pectinate in males.

Larvae of Atelamia are known to feed on various plant species, although specific host plants may differ between species and geographical locations. Like other geometrid caterpillars, they are often referred to as "inchworms" due to their characteristic looping locomotion, caused by their reduced number of prolegs.
