Astrophotometry is the branch of astronomy concerned with measuring the flux, or intensity, of light received from celestial objects. Unlike astrophotography, which focuses on capturing visual images, astrophotometry quantifies the brightness of stars, planets, galaxies, and other astronomical phenomena. These measurements are essential for studying the properties of celestial objects, such as their distance, temperature, composition, and variability.

The process typically involves recording the light from an object through a telescope and analyzing it using specialized instruments like photometers or CCD (charge-coupled device) cameras.
