Arvutivahendid

Arvutivahendid, often translated as computer peripherals, are external devices that connect to a computer to expand its functionality or allow interaction with it. They are not part of the core computer system itself, which typically includes the central processing unit (CPU), memory, and motherboard. Peripherals can be categorized into input devices, output devices, and storage devices.

Input devices allow users to feed data and commands into the computer. Common examples include keyboards, mice, scanners, microphones, and webcams. These devices translate physical actions or sound into digital signals that the computer can process.

Output devices present information from the computer to the user. This category includes monitors, printers, speakers, and projectors. Monitors display visual information, printers produce hard copies, and speakers generate audio output.

Storage devices, while sometimes considered internal, are also often categorized as peripherals, especially external ones. These are used to store data. Examples include hard drives (both internal and external), solid-state drives (SSDs), USB flash drives, and optical drives like CD/DVD writers.

Other types of peripherals include networking devices like modems and routers, which enable internet connectivity, and specialized devices such as graphics tablets or game controllers.
