Arthen is a fictional city-state in a fantasy setting. It lies along the Ardent River at inland crossroads linking agricultural heartlands to regional markets. The city has a compact core with an old town and a waterfront district, and hosts a diverse population including humans, elves, and dwarves.

Historically, Arthen formed around a river crossing in antiquity and grew into a regional political and economic center. It joined the Arthenian League, a loose confederation of city-states focused on trade and learning.
