Arkégrupp

Arkégrupp is a term used in Swedish-language contexts to denote a research team or unit within archaeology or cultural heritage disciplines. The word combines arke-, relating to archaeology, with grupp, meaning "group." There is no single international organization officially named Arkégrupp; instead, the term functions as a generic label for collaborative units within universities, museums, or heritage agencies that study past societies and their material remains.

Typical arkégrupp work includes field surveys, excavations, artifact analysis, architectural reconstruction, and the interpretation of settlements and landscapes. Projects often address questions about urbanization, trade networks, technology, and daily life in past eras. The group's outputs usually comprise scholarly articles, excavation reports, public outreach materials, and digital databases and inventories.
