Arelias is a fictional city-state in the fantasy world of Eldoria. It sits on the western shore of the Sapphire Strait, at the mouth of the Vell River, and functions as a major port and commercial center. The city is known for glassmaking, shipbuilding, and mercantile services, with a trading economy that connects inland markets to coastal cities across several sea lanes. Its population is diverse, including humans as well as elves and dwarves, with a long history of welcoming migrants and merchants.

Arelias operates as a constitutional city-state governed by a Lord Protector and a Council of Merchants. The Lord Protector serves as head of state, and the council holds legislative authority. The judiciary is independent, and municipal administration handles public services. Elections are periodic and open to citizen and guild members alike, reflecting the city’s merchant-oriented culture.

Historically, Arelias grew from trading outposts established by seafaring guilds in the early medieval period. It expanded through maritime commerce and naval protection of trade routes, achieving de facto independence and later joining regional alliances such as the Confederation of Free Cities.
