Arealinen

Arealinen is a term used in the geospatial sciences and statistics to describe analysis and modeling centered on geographic areal units. The term is used to denote approaches that treat predefined areas—such as census tracts, municipalities, or ecological regions—as the fundamental units for data aggregation, inference, and visualization. In Finnish technical usage, arealinen functions as an adjective meaning area-related, and it may appear in descriptions of methods, software, or standards dealing with spatial areal data.
