Arca

Arca, born Alejandra Ghersi in 1989 in Caracas, Venezuela, is a Venezuelan electronic musician and producer known for experimental soundscapes that fuse avant-pop, industrial textures, and manipulated vocals. Arca’s work often explores themes of identity and embodiment, using distorted, pitch-shifted voices, dense atmospheres, and irregular rhythmic structures.

Her discography includes Xen (2014), a sprawling debut that merged harsh noise with ethereal melody; Mutant (2015), an EP that pushed further into aggressive, avant-garde territory; the self-titled Arca (2017); and KiCk i (2020), a widely acclaimed album blending reggaeton-inspired percussion with experimental electronics.

Collaborations have extended Arca’s influence beyond solo work. Notable projects include collaborations with Björk, FKA Twigs, and Kelela, contributing as producer, writer, and performer on various songs and albums. Arca has also produced for other artists and participated in contemporary art and fashion contexts.
