The term is often used to describe individuals who do not engage with religious or spiritual questions due to a lack of interest, emotional detachment, or a focus on other aspects of life.

The concept of apatheistic can be traced back to ancient philosophical traditions, particularly Stoicism, where emotional detachment from external concerns—including religious dogma—was seen as a path to inner peace and rational living.
