Antibraking

Antibraking is a term sometimes used to describe a situation where a vehicle's braking system is intentionally prevented from functioning or is intentionally bypassed. This is not a standard automotive term and does not refer to a recognized safety feature or a common component. Instead, it generally implies a deliberate act to disable or override the normal braking mechanism.

In some contexts, the term might be used informally to describe the action of a driver flooring the accelerator while simultaneously attempting to brake, a maneuver that is counterproductive and can strain the drivetrain. In racing or specialized automotive applications, there might be specific scenarios where a driver intentionally modulates brake pressure in a way that could be colloquially described as "antibraking," aiming for a desired vehicle dynamics outcome. However, these are highly specific and controlled circumstances, not typical driving.

It is important to distinguish this informal usage from actual automotive technologies. Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), for example, are designed to prevent wheel lock-up during braking, enhancing control. This is the opposite of what "antibraking" implies. The concept of intentionally disabling brakes is generally associated with actions that compromise safety and vehicle control.
